A New Kind of Paci, by Russ

As all of you are no doubt aware, I drink bourbon. Lots of bourbon (not all in one sitting, just over all). Also, you are most likely aware that alcohol is often used to ease teething. So I have taken this as a bonding opportunity between me and the kids. I rub some bourbon on his/her gums and take a sip for me.

I did it with Mr. B, and I had to hide my bourbon glass from him, lest he attempt to take a swig. And now I am doing the same with Miss L. Although, she is more likely to stick her hand in the glass, rather than take a swig. Either way, it's messy.

So with all the bourbon I'm drinking, and the Wife is helping out now which just makes the bourbon disappear even faster, I'm finding the bottle stoppers laying about. In a stroke of genius, or madness it is a rather fine line, I handed it over to Miss L.

Pop it went into her mouth! The bourbon side. First try. So we have a bourbon flavored teething nub. She loves it.

The only down side. She started shredding the cork with her bottom teeth. Oh well. I don't have too much left in that bottle of Elijah Craig 12yr old bourbon...

My granny used to swear by using Guinness for teething.

Wait until they go to school and tell the DARE officers!

Why did I not see this one?!

You, sir, are a genius. See, you raise 'em right, start 'em off with Elijah Craig 12 yr., and hopefully they'll never see a bottle of Jack Daniels or Jim Beam.

Both of those are true and Evil "failsauce".

Let me know if you want anything more obscure, like Rowan's Creek or a Booker's Private Barrel.

As an aside, I'm going to a Four Roses tasting/unveiling of a new product next Thursday. Living smack in the crotch of the Bourbon Trail has it's advantages.

When she shreds the top it just means you and the wife need to finish the bottle.

BTW I won't tell Child Services....

cIII, I have just a little bit of envy right now. I've made the wife promise that we will do the bourbon trail one of these years. I figure a long weekend will do the trick. (I-40 will have to be reopened at the TN state line first.)

I have seen Rowan's Creek and Bookers, but not Booker's private label. We're probably getting into some high dollar liquor there.

Failsauce, that is a good one!
