For some reason I didn't tell my sister to "stick it in her ear", when she invited herself (and SIL and three children) over for dinner last night. Am I that big of a push over? (Short answer, yes.)
So I invited over my parents so I would have a little bit of a buffer. At least that part worked well. Only if the weather cooperated. We haven't had rain in weeks, and around 4pm the skies clouded up and the deluge began.
That meant that I couldn't tell the kids to go outside to play (the thunder and lightning was the real decision maker on that front) and I could not cook on the grill. Pizza was on the menu. (Side note, when you haven't been eating much grain at all for quite some time and then knock back four slices. The stomache does not appreciate it.) So now I have a 550F oven in the house full of people and an AC unit coming to its knees.
Just as I was getting started the Cat (aka Damien) was running about the house and up and down the stairs. Somewhere along there, he lost his gum. He's four, who gives a four year old gum? Am I out of the loop on that? It just strikes me as a bad idea to give gum to someone who runs like they are on the verge of falling. (I know, let's put something in your mouth!)
On top of that, sis said that she and BIL are going to a child therapist/psychologist to discuss how to handle their oldest child. (Past time if you ask me, but you didn't.) I have a novel idea for them. Pay attension to him. Yes, the newborns will require your attension, but at this phase, they sleep most of the time. So, when they are sleeping, play with the little bastard! Don't tell him to go play in the playroom while you read 'twilight' for the umteenth time (I've only been able to read a couple of books more than once, and they are Watership Down, Atlas Shrugged, and Shogun). But that is just me.
Instead, she just stares at the twins and makes baby talk at them while they sleep. Is it any wonder that Cat is striving for attension.
The sister's parting shot, inviting herself over to the parent's house, then announcing, "If I don't invite myself, I never get invited." Mmmm, there might be a reason for that. Again, that is just me.
Go ahead....

Oh good LORD! Is she really that obtuse?
Well, that sounds like a lovely evening. :)
Oh dear. Yikes.
It was Leslie. Nothing like cringing at family to do the heart good.
Oh, these posts bring back all sorts of memories....like when Husband's 4 yr old niece cried during my ENTIRE wedding shower because SHE threw a toy out the window on the ride over.
The fact that she's 29 now and still a piece of work is probably no surprise to you, is it?
I enjoyed Atlas Shrugged, but not as much as The Fountainhead.
