Electrodes, by Russ

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, electrodes were falling off my dad while we were playing golf.  No he is not an android, but that would explain his complete lack of emotion (I had written it off to our Teutonic heritage).

I think I had mentioned my father's heart issue, if not/for new readers, here it is.  Some two months ago, right in the middle of my sister's birthing of the twins, my father's heart starts to race.  Up to 160 bpm then back to normal.  Profuse sweating, exhausted, light headed, the whole nine yards.  So he goes to the doctor and discovers that he has an atrial flutter.

So for the weeks following, he was in and out of the doctor's office doing stress tests and the like.  Finally, they put him under and shocked his heart back into rhythm and put him on some drugs to regulate his heart rate.

The drugs cap his heart rate at 60 bpm.  Period.  It doesn't matter if he is watching TV, walking up the stairs, or running for his life from a wild bear (hell, it's happened to him once already) his heart can't beat any faster than 60 bpm.  This means that what had previously not affected him, now leaves him gasping for air.  It's a little unnerving.

So the electrodes this past weekend were a checkup of sorts.  Just making sure that his wasn't still fluttering.  Although, I'm not sure how it would know since he is still on the meds.  Hopefully, dad reapplied the fallen electrodes to the proper places and can get off the meds soon.
