The Wife and I took the kids back to school shopping last weekend. This was my first true back to school shopping that I have done since I was last in school.
I don't remember having a list of items that I needed to supply. Certainly not a list for kindergarten. All told, we spent $85 just on supplies just for Mr. B. Miss L cost considerably less, just a backpack and lunchbox. Memory serving, we'll get nickled and dimed by the preschool for her.
I always recalled the big purchases for fall was the new clothes, which we have yet to do for the kids. I know full well that Mr. B is in dire need of new pants, and since I'm a betting man, he will need new long sleeve shirts while we're at it.
Miss L, on the other hand, is quite the clothes horse. Not that we buy her much, we just get it from a friend whose daughter outgrows them. (We trade with Mr. B's old clothes for their son.)
I have my own issues with back to school. None of them are supply oriented, however. All of mine are registering issues. The week before going to the beach, I left messages for darn near everyone that I needed to speak. Over the week, nary one person called me back. Neither at my home nor cell, I left both in hopes that I could field a call while away.
No such luck. So as I finish writing this, I'll be going back to the phones and trying to track down someone who will tell me the secret handshake to register for a class. I did not miss this shit.
Go ahead....

Yes, the supply lists are incredible these days - must we supply paper towels and kleenex??
Before we decided to move and change school districts, my daughter's Kindergarten supply list was a backpack, notebook and pencilbox. The school district, starting this year, was picking up the tab for everything else for grades K-5. I'm really missing that list right now.
