Long Weekend by Russ

With that long weekend over, it's time to get back to the daily grind.  Today's grind is a little different than usual (today's grind, sounds like coffee!), both kids are in school.  The house is eerily quiet, with exception of the snore/wheeze of the pooch and the AC running, it's quiet.  I'm not used to hearing the ringing in my ears.  It's amazing the amount of noise you can get accustomed to.

I should be doing my school work, so at least I acknowledge that I should be doing something other than blogging and reading blogs, but that is as far as it goes for the moment.

On the school front, I aced the first three assignments, so yay me.  Now I just have 15 or so more weeks to ace.

I made arguably my best smoked pork butt ever this past weekend, even if it did take several hours longer than usual to do.  The biggest downside to that, fewer leftovers.

Mr. B still has his principal (see, got it right this time!  only need to mock me once and I'll remember) as his teacher.  I have another back to school function tonight.  This is going to get old quickly if I have something for his school every other week.

My SIL visited this weekend.  Mostly to get her out of her house and staring at a different set of four walls.  Her life is in turmoil at the moment and doesn't show signs of improving.  I've been sworn to be quiet on it, so that is as far as I can take it.  Needless to say, she isn't in a good place.  Worst of all, it's a dog that seems to be holding her back from taking matters into her own hands (I told her that there are lots of deserving dogs that would love her, but it has been to no avail).  She has to get there on her own.

I'd best do some work while the house is still quiet.  Or else the siren song of the Xbox will get too strong.

What a coincidence! I smoked a pork butt this weekend as well. Our local GFS Marketplace had a Labor Day sale and I got a multi pack of two huge pork butts for $30! That's my kind of Labor Day!

I've been there with the picking up pieces for a SIL... that's when you find out how much "family" you really are.

Good luck on the motivation!
