The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Russ

Mr. B enjoys checking out and occasionally harvesting his "different colored carrots".  Much to our dismay, we have only had a few "different colors", mostly white.  The rest of the carrots were the normal orange.  I would like to see the odd purple one just to break things up a little.  (The bigger disappointment is that they are only a couple inches long [ladies, insert your jokes here].)

Recently, we went out to check out how things were doing.  Many of the plants had their leaves munched down to nothing with only my parsley still having all of its foliage.  (Which is odd, since that is normally the first plant to suffer the indignity of defoliation.)  With minimal effort, we found the culprit.  Which is to say, we looked at the plants.

This is what we saw:

They must have just finished gorging themselves on all the junk food as they are now eating, quite a few, nice green leaves.  Now all I have to do is start looking for the chrysalis (chrysalii?) to see the new butterflies!  If I only had something to give away, I would do an "Identify the Caterpillar Challenge"

Make sure you get one of the pupa for Mr. B & Miss L to watch! So very educational.

Yes, our carrots are smaller than the baby carrots you buy at the grocery store. Very discouraging.
