Saturday night by Russ

So as I mentioned, I went to the ACC championship game Saturday night.

One of my old roommates from college called and said that he had an extra ticket and did I want it.  But I had to act fast since it belonged to his wife's company and they wanted to ensure that it was used.  So I had to make a decision.

If you follow college football, you might have been aware that Clemson had all but wrapped up their division after starting the season 8-0.  Had the ticket been offered then, I would have jumped on it.  Then they went 1-3 in their next four games (including losing to those damn chickens), with their defense fully exposed and the offense totally out of rhythm.

Short story long, I figured that it was worth it to grab the ticket.  Who knows when they will be back and it should be a fun time anyway.  That is when my buddy let it slip that the tickets were luxury box tickets.  Oh yeah!

One of the big reasons I don't like going to games is crowds (and the traffic that the crowds draw).  I don't like people as a rule and I am big on my personal space.  While at a stadium, everyone is way too close for my comfort.  Now, I would have no one standing in front of me (thus causing me to stand and block the person behind me) and I would be more than an arms length away from anybody around me.  Heaven!  (The fact the beverages and food were available didn't hurt either.)

I didn't see my buddy and his wife all game.  He likes being in the crowd and yelling and screaming his head off.  I liked speaking in a conversational voice to others in the box.  Being able to follow the Big 12 and Big 10 games on the TV didn't hurt either.  So if you looked for me at the game, you didn't see me.

Yep, I could get used to how the other half live.  Real used to how they live.  Short of winning powerball, I don't see it happening.

I used to have access to Rollerblade's box at the Excel Energy Center (St. Paul, MN) and how sweet was that? Free beer, all the shrimp I could eat and/or stuff in my pockets, and plenty o'space. :-)

Them were the days...

I have not been to a concert or sporting event in the last 20 years without sitting in a loge (as we call them here). Husband doesn't like to ask too often, so he tries to limit us to once every other year. The dessert cart is the best part!
